Internet marketing is a vital component of e-commerce businesses, who was first to feel the need for a structured approach to internet promotions and web visibility. Although internet marketing is mostly used in ecommerce, bloggers, non-profit sites and pamphlet sites have been using some internet marketing practices to build visibility. Internet marketing can include information and content management, public relations, customer service, and sales.

Well over one third of consumers who have Internet access in their homes report using the Internet to make purchases and this trend has been rising exponentially over the last decade and now we are seeing internet marketing becoming a more vital component of successful venture both online and offline. As we move forward, the ways we use the web as a marketing medium is flourishing and those who do it well grow by leaps and bounds over those who don't.
